Equipment

  • 2-quart baking dish

Ingredients

Filling

  • 1 lb fresh strawberries
  • 3 tablespoons orange juice
  • ½ cup sugar divided

Topping

  • 1 ½ cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar divided
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter divided
  • 1 cup brown sugar

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly spray a 2-quart baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Wash, hull, and slice the strawberries.
  • Combine strawberries, orange juice, and ½ cup of the white sugar in a medium pot and cook over medium heat until sugar is completely dissolved. Pour into the prepared baking dish.
  • In another bowl, combine the flour and the remaining ½ cup of white sugar. Use a pastry blender or two forks to cut ½ cup of the butter into it. It will be dry and crumbly. Sprinkle it on top of the strawberries.
  • Soften the remaining ¼ cup of butter and mix with 1 cup brown sugar. Drop into dollops on top of the flour mixture.
  • Bake for 55 minutes to an hour, or until golden, bubbly, and the cobbler is cooked through. Serve with vanilla ice cream or a generous pour of heavy cream.

Notes
