  • ¾ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1–2 teaspoons red gel food coloring

Optional Additions

  • 1 cup white chocolate chips optional
  • 2 tablespoons festive sprinkles optional

Baking Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Mix in milk, vanilla extract, vinegar, and red food coloring.
  • Gradually combine dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just incorporated.
  • Fold in white chocolate chips if using.
  • Spread batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  • Add sprinkles on top if desired.
  • Bake for 18–25 minutes until edges are set and center is slightly soft.
  • Cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use softened butter for the best texture and avoid melting it. Do not overmix the batter to keep the bars soft and tender. Let the bars cool completely before cutting for clean slices.
