Main Ingredients

  • 250 g glutinous rice
  • 200 ml coconut milk
  • 60 g raw cane sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 ripe mango

Preparation Steps

  • Rinse the rice several times in water until it runs clear.
  • Pour into a bowl and cover with water (twice the volume). Let it rest for at least 6 hours.
  • Drain the rice and cook for 20 minutes in a steamer.
  • Heat the coconut milk in a saucepan with sugar and salt. Remove from heat as soon as it reaches a boil.
  • Transfer the cooked rice to a bowl and pour two-thirds of the sweetened coconut milk over it. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
  • Peel and slice the mango into thin strips.
  • Pour the remaining coconut milk over the rice after 15 minutes (reheat if cold) and mix well.
  • Serve the sticky rice with coconut milk on a plate with mango slices.

Notes

This dessert is best served fresh and can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature.
