Cake Batter

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter room temperature
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup milk optional

Chocolate Batter

  • 0.25 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Baking Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan and line it with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, alternating with milk, until just combined.
  • In a separate bowl, mix one-third of the batter with cocoa powder until smooth.
  • Spoon alternating dollops of plain and chocolate batter into the prepared pan. Gently swirl with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  • Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool before slicing.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use whole milk. Avoid overmixing to keep the cake light and fluffy. You can also add chocolate chips for extra indulgence.
